I worked for Save and Prosper as well as GRE before becoming an IFA which then led to me to create my own business called Blackstone IFA Ltd with my business partner Chris Brennan.

Throughout my professional career I have gained extensive and varied experience, advising both businesses and their owners but also individuals and help them plan their financial future. My approach to this is to try and get them to understand ‘what their number is’.

Fees will vary from client to client, based on each client’s individual needs. For an accurate estimate of any fees involved, please contact us to explain your circumstances and what you are looking for advice on.

To give you some general guidance, for Investment and Pension advice, advisers usually charge a percentage of any amount you invest or transfer through them. This amount would typically vary between 1% and 3% of the amount invested, depending on the amount.

Should you wish to receive regular advice from the adviser, there may be an additional annual charge, usually between 0.5% and 1% p.a. Some advisers will instead offer to work for either an hourly fee or a fixed fee, or some combination of the above. Any charges would be agreed with you upfront and only applied with your explicit consent. The payments would typically be deducted from your investment or pension pot.

Since 2012, it has been prohibited for advisers to receive commissions from any investment or pension companies when recommending their products or funds – they are paid only by you, the client.

What were the circumstances that caused you to look for a financial adviser?

Originally retirement planning and long term investment advice. Anthony was contracted by my employers to supervise and advise employees about the company pension scheme and to assist with any pension related advice on an individual basis.

How has Anthony Ward helped you?

Recommended several methods by which taxation could be optimised, and transferring several pensions from previous employments into a single consolidated plan. I was impressed and engaged him to advise my wife and I on a private basis. He started with a full review and then recommended establishing a power of attorney by my daughter and a will, both of which were set up by my solicitor. She was impressed by the questions and briefing that Anthony had provided and our confidence in him grew. He was key to a private share sale, and placed monies into several accounts, some short term, instant access for CGT and income tax, others with long term. His estimate of tax liability was spot -on. He has also assisted with advice on car purchase.

Have you seen the outcome you were hoping for?

It has exceeded, way above expectation, and we have felt protected throughout. So much so that I have recommended him to several trusted friends and colleagues, something that I would not do lightly given the risk associated with personal money. We hold regular reviews and change portfolio items based around performance projections.

What could they have done better?

Can’t think of anything
