It is already almost halfway through 2023, and we at Blackstone have noticed that this year has started with a bang. In fact, it has been one of the busiest and most productive starts of the year that we can recall. We have noticed an increasing amount of interest in customers wanting to organise their finances. With this in mind, it’s important to reflect on the reasons behind this trend.
Of course, some transactions were delayed due to the market and global turmoil of last year, but that’s only a part of the story. The overwhelming reason for seeking our advice has been a desire to understand how best to plan finances both now and in the future.
The typical questions we hear are “How much do I/we need to retire?” or “How much should I be saving?”. These questions are increasingly being followed by “Can you help me plan or show me how to achieve my/our objectives?” This shows a growing awareness among people that they need to be proactive in managing their finances in order to secure their financial future.

At Blackstone, we have always had a focus on helping our clients create and achieve their financial objectives. It’s been heartening to see so many of our existing clients react and engage further with us as we work with them to create a financial plan that meets their needs.
It’s also worth noting that a significant proportion of the engagement we’ve had has been with those in the 50-62 age band. However, we’ve also had a lot of new client enquiries from those in the 35-50 age band. The message seems to be reaching them that getting a financial plan in place sooner rather than later gives them the best chance of achieving their goals.
Looking ahead, we believe that this trend of seeking advice and creating financial plans will continue. Our services of helping people get an overall financial plan in place, rather than simply suggesting they pay into a pension or an ISA, still resonate strongly with clients.
We always stress to our clients that there’s no point in simply paying into a plan unless you have a clear idea of what you want to achieve. That’s why we work closely with our clients to create a financial plan that is tailored to their specific needs and objectives. By doing so, we believe that our clients have the best chance of achieving their financial goals, both now and in the future.
