Jill Scorer

My name is Jill Scorer. I’ve been with Blackstone for about 10 years, and Chris Brennan is my adviser.

I got divorced and had the divorce settlement through, and at the time, I didn’t know what to do with the money and where to invest it.

I didn’t really have any clue of what the future held, and I didn’t want to make any decisions. I needed some guidance, and I didn’t know where to start, so Chris was the first point of contact for me after the divorce, which was fantastic, and he was such a help, not just financially but emotionally as well.

I was recommended Chris Brennan by a friend of mine whose family had used him for a very long time. So, that’s how I got in touch.

The first couple of meetings with Chris, and the reason why I decided to go with him, was that he told me to hold fire and not do anything. I’d just gone through a divorce; my head was in a bit of a mess. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do, and he advised me to do nothing for a while until I got myself in a slightly better place.

He’s just a very good sounding board. When I go into panic mode or I think about doing something, I would always run it past him first. He always gives a really balanced view of the situation, whereas I might be panicking, and he’s just saying, “Calm down; it’s going to be absolutely fine. Just work through it sensibly, and you’re fine.”

The best thing about working with Chris for me is that whenever I need him, he is always on the end of the phone. He always picks up, and he’ll always answer my questions.

Chris has given me the confidence to make decisions myself with his help and with his guidance that I really wouldn’t have taken before.

If you asked me to describe Chris in three words, I would say that he is considered, trustworthy, and balanced.

I would definitely recommend Chris to anybody. I haven’t dealt with many other people in the company, but anybody I have dealt with just once or twice has been great. Chris is always there when you need him. He picks the phone up, answers your questions, puts your mind at rest, and gives you confidence for the future.
